OUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY CHILD IS A GIFT FROM GOD. WE STRIVE TO TEACH ALL OF OUR STUDENTS THAT THEY ARE SPECIAL & IMPORTANT IN GOD'S EYES. AS EACH CHILD GROWS IN CONFIDENCE--SO DOES THEIR ABILITY TO LEARN.

LEADERSHIP

Not only do we have a great staff that have cultivated great leadership skills, they also encourage leadership skills in the classrooms throughout the year by appointing a "Class Leader" every week. In this setting, the Class Leader helps set the tables before snack times, leads their classmates throughout the halls during outings & is given the opportunity to show a great example through their outstanding behavior.

TEAM WORK

Building a great team is a skill each child will need as they grow up in years.

Every child is encouraged to play & create as a team during structured table time, circle time & even during recess. Learning to play together as a team builds character & teaches them to talk through their differences.

LANGUAGE & LITERACY

In all of our classes (ages 1 - 4) we encourage reading. These years are critical for encouraging literacy skills & development.

From story time, phonics, then to reading & writing, our program also offers a Spanish class for any of our students who wish to learn another language.

ARTS

We take art seriously here at GSPS & take great pride in our little budding artists. Every year we host an art exhibit showcasing our students work & display all of their work to our community.

Art is a beautiful way for kids to express themselves as well as cultivate their creative imaginations.

SCIENCE

All children are natural scientists. Our program is designed to encourage hands on learning to help them investigate & observe their ever growing world.

MATH

A positive experience with math is important to us as our students develop reasoning & problem solving skills.

Our math program introduces numbers, measurements & patterns through hands on learning techniques.

HISTORY & SOCIAL STUDIES

Throughout the year we take the opportunity to introduce history through stories, national holidays & art projects. A few history lessons we teach include Presidents Day, MLK Day, Doctor Seuss Week, Thanksgiving, Christmas & the Biblical importance of Easter.

In our social studies program we help our kids under stand themselves & the people around them, which includes family, friends, postal workers, firemen & policemen.

ENVIRONMENT

At this age it isn't hard to get children excited to learn about their environment. In a few classes our students plant seeds & get to see the process of how they grow in different environments & how to take care of each plant. They also learn about the seasons & the importance about each one. Cultivating respect for the environment at an early age will help our little ones grow up demanding a better place to live in.

SPIRITUALITY

From weekly chapel visits, weekly verses recited in class & nursery songs enveloped in worship ensures a Godly space for your children to grow into their faith. As a ministry of FUMC, we are honored to have the opportunity to create a safe, loving, & healthy environment to teach our students wholeness, kindness & love; as is desired by Jesus Christ.

ABOUT

Our school has been here for ages, & by 'ages' I mean more than 50 years. We don't have the exact date in our records but we did find a GSPS staff picture dating back to 1965. Although a lot has changed since then a few thing have not. We have a clear mission to create a fun learning environment for your kids, a place to encourage a deeper relationship with Christ & to show up with integrity & love to every situation provided to us. Our goal is to grow in love & respect & to honor each child as they go through our program.

We would be honored to have you & your child along for the ride in this journey of early education!
